About Paraxis

An advisory practice built by
former market data leaders.

Each of Paraxis's leadership team led the market data function at asset managers and investment banks. We negotiated the vendor contracts, defended the exchange audits, and managed the annual renewal calendars our clients now navigate every year. That firsthand experience is the reason the practice exists. It's why we prefer to work alongside your team, close to the decisions, rather than at arm's length from them.

Our story

Why Paraxis exists.

For most institutional firms, market data is one of the largest technology lines on the budget, and the least governed. Renewal uplifts are treated as automatic. Audit letters arrive with no advance notice. New licensing categories appear mid-cycle. Usage flatlines while spend keeps climbing.

The reason is structural, not accidental. Procurement doesn’t hold the licensing detail. Compliance owns audits only after they land. Market data operations owns the users, but rarely the commercials. No single seat pulls the levers that actually govern spend.

Paraxis exists to sit at that intersection. We’re former practitioners who have held those seats: buy-side and sell-side, procurement, compliance, and market data operations. We know how Bloomberg’s non-display schedule works because we’ve administered it. We know when RICs should be retired ahead of a true-up because we’ve run the retirement. Our partners have done this work inside some of the industry’s largest institutions, and they do it now for the firms that engage us.

“We’re not consultants who learned this from textbooks. We ran these programs. We sat in your chair. We know what works because we’ve done it.”

Leadership

A partner owns your engagement, start to finish.

More than a century of combined market data and data management leadership at the partner tier, drawn from Tier-1 investment banks, global asset managers, index-owner licensing groups, and global consulting practices. Every engagement is owned end-to-end by a Paraxis partner, supported by the practice’s market data and data management specialists across our West Palm Beach, Toronto, and London offices. What you don’t get is a junior associate carrying the work.

How we work

Three principles behind every engagement.

  • Demand shaping

Align what the firm actually consumes with what the business needs. Strip redundant feeds, right-size user licenses, retire dormant Refinitiv identifiers before the vendor true-up finds them.

  • Distribution engineering

How data flows from the vendor into the firm and across applications. Architecture decisions made once and documented, not rediscovered every renewal.

  • Commercial leverage

Negotiate against benchmarked rates, not list price. Total cost of ownership, audit posture, and renewal terms read together rather than in sequence. Bloomberg’s non-display fee schedule changed twice this year. We know which tier your firm should be on.
